Outdoor End Table

i am so excited to post this! i've had this hideous end table for about a year and i just didn't know what to do with it...we have been using it on our porch to hold the stereo...i've been so ashamed of it but just couldn't throw it out...i would have loved to have a bright cheery color but my family makes fun of my "colors"...

here it is with the stereo...such a nice stereo to be sitting on such a junky piece...

here is a better look before i got started...

after the 1st coat...i used rustoleum ultra coverage in oregano...it says it bonds to plastic...believe it or not that front piece with the design on it is plastic...i chose spray paint over brushing because this piece was not in good shape at all...it would have to be repaired with some trim work, wood putty, and a lot of time...i've never spray painted a piece before...now i know why so many people do it..i would have never finished this today if i would have brushed it on...nor, would i have come out so cheap...around $4 for this can of paint..

finished product...i am so happy with the outcome...it was quick and easy..i think this matches my set perfect...

3 Tier Pot

i posted on my other blog about making a 3 tier pot and i wanted to share pictures from last year and this year to show the progress that my plants have made...i originally saw this on positively splendid...

this is around last may when i planted everything...notice the gerber daisy on top...it had a bloom when i bought it but very small

this one shows how the vinca has grown...

the gerber daisy is huge...lasted through the winter just fine

New Project.....Need Ideas

today i've been cleaning my porch...i have so much to do out there...this post is about one of the projects i want to do...i have an end table that i picked up last year for free...its not in the best shape because it was sitting out in the weather when i got it...

here is the end table...lots of years of abuse...there is spray paint plus i don't know what else..its so hideous i can hardly look at it...its nice to hold the stereo...i had an idea today that i think i will keep my pool chemicals and test kit in there...

here  is my end tables twin...she is a beauty huh? she is long gone though..can't use this color with my patio furniture...

my patio furniture...i think i want to match my end table to this...

it will be awhile before i can replace my furniture so i have to choose a color that will go with this for awhile...if you have any thoughts or suggestions please let me know...i will be thinking about it myself...i can't wait!!

so, today i'm walking down memory lane with my old blog...i want to take the time to explain what happened and why i had to start over...

for some time, my kids shared a computer with me...i didn't mind letting them because they had school work and sometimes wanted to play games...for some reason, my daughters google account got crossed with my google account...i never really got an answer from google on this matter...i even tried to pay google to fix the problem for me and when they contacted me, i was never offered the option to pay even though it its "offered" on their site...

when this first happened i was devastated...i cried every time i thought about it...i had to walk away for some time so that i could think about what i wanted to do...i had worked so hard trying to build a business and to create my dream...i completely cut myself off from all forms of creativity...for several months i have not wanted to do anything to my house...for me, i suffer from depression and this only made things worse...the happiness that i had received from sharing my work had been wiped out...i began focusing on other things to get my mind off of it...i thought long and hard and realized that if i could build a blog one time, then i could build it a second time...

i just wanted to share some pictures from the old blog that i thought was interesting...a little depressing...LOL but possible to recreate...

here are my old followers...56 people...not alot compared to the larger blogs...but it made me happy

i had alot of page views...less than a year on a blog

i posted 83 times...alot of people make posts every single day...it can be quite overwhelming for someone thats busy...

 here i go everybody! i'm back with all of my heart...i will continue as before but maybe not as fast...thanks to everybody that has supported me...

if you are my family, quit reading this...your presents are on this post...i got this idea from megan at Miss Madisons Charmed Life ... thank you very much for helping me come up with these last minute gifts...we, meaning the husband and i, cut and made these frames...he has decided he wants to get in on the action...he did the actual cutting and i painted and mod podged...they turned out great...

tried to keep everything matching with black..

this one i made out of a scrap of wood for baleighs room...she likes houndstooth...

I bought this grape vine wreath at Hobby Lobby about 2 months ago...I put some flowers on it but I didn't "love" it...it's been hanging on my door...Last night I decided to get out the spray paint!! I painted it white...

In my kitchen...the light's not that great...i painted it white

 

 The flowers I used were bought at Dollar Tree....For some reason when i saw them the yellow just popped out at me...i just cut them off at the stem....they were originally long stemmed...i bunched them up and wrapped sisal twine around them....i hot glued the end to stay...i took the whole bunch and hot glued it onto the wreath....i had a letter "L" that i had also purchased at Hobby Lobby to use on another project that my husband hated...i had spray painted it blue from the flower pot project i did a while back...i also hot glued it onto the wreath...it just seemed to be missing something...i took some of the sisal twine and made some small flowers out of it....see below:

i made 3 of the flowers...i hot glued them onto the wreath and still something seemed to be missing....i rummaged through some of my old crafting stuff and found some little blingy jewels...i put them in the center to complete it...

 i'm happy with it for now...since i'm usually a copy cat, i just wanted to say that i came up with this on my own!! HAHA...just a creative streak in me today...i will probably change it up later....

EDIT 1: All of my stuff fell off! guess it was too hot on my door...got to try something different...

EDIT 2:   I used some Gorilla glue this time and it didn't fall off...has been several days!! YAY!

you know what i hate?? when i find something online and i don't pin it for later...i tried to use my memory but you know how that goes...

i saw the cutest little crate that was made out of a clementine box...i didn't even know that oranges came in a wooden box..i thought i wouldn't find one either...i had to go by my mother in laws house the other night and she had 4 of them stacked in her garage!! and since she loves me so much i got all of them...

here is the before...

and the after...painted all of the bare wood black...slightly sanded...drilled holes and added handles...

just a little project...since i have 3 more i might try something different...

finally!! after weeks of not crafting i'm back...i was sick with a sinus infection but i don't want to talk about that...i want to share something i made today...

several months ago i found a project on pinterest that i wanted to make for christmas presents...things didn't work out like i had planned...it was a craft failure...here is the link from Delightfully Noted and it shows how to make a family sign using tile backsplash...i went to home depot and bought some tile that was on clearance...some dollar tree frames....wooden letters and numbers...she says to glue the tile onto white cardstock and i didn't have any...thats the part that didn't work...it flopped over...and i almost cried...i planned something else and this is what i came up with...

first of all, i have a bad problem with pictures...i do have a REAL camera...and i use it..i just am not patient enough to use the card reader cause i'm always so excited to post new projects...so, thats why i use my trusty camera phone...

i took some leftover scrap book paper that i used on the Picture Frames that i made last month..i cut it to fit the frame..i then cut a piece of poster board that i bought after the craft failure and mod podged the houndstooth onto it..i plan on trying the tile project again but making it work this time...i painted the letters, numbers, and frame black...just one coat...i then lightly sanded it to get a distressed look...put everything back together and glued the letters onto the glass...hot glue isn't the greatest thing for this project...a few letters fell off to start with..maybe i didn't mash them down enough...its hanging up now and they are still intact...the family likes it!!
