Laundry Room Door

This post copied  from previous blog
February 2012

if you have been following me, you know that i started on my laundry room...i'm in the process of stenciling a wall...yes, i said "a" wall...its sorta kicking my butt...i had to take a break...

i have been putting off painting the door...i don't know why but i have left it unfinished for quite a while..i've also used the laundry room to lock my dog up when we were not home and she destroyed the back of it...she is now potty trained and never gets locked up anymore...she is also 8 years old...hehe..see where this is going...
its hard to tell from this picture but there are claw parks everywhere...but notice, i did paint the trim black..goodbye hideous door...
hello black...i like it alot better...
i'm so disgusted with my pictures...i read on a blog how to take better pictures but i can't figure out how to change the settings on my camera...she explains everything...and believe it or not i understand what she is saying...i've got to do some research online for a fugi..anyway, stay tuned for more laundry room fun...

Start Of Laundry Room

This post was copied from previous blog

last year i laid new tile in my laundry room when i did my kitchen...i also painted in there but that was about the extent of it...i mean, its a laundry room...what do i do in there?? things i don't want to do like wash and fold laundry...

now that i'm a blogger and a pinterst addict, i see alot of laundry rooms i like...if i have to go in there i guess i might as well make it look nice...

my goal for this week was to clean things out and organize better...i keep all of my craft things in there...lots of paint, brushes, etc...i also use it to store some of my stockpile items...yes, i do coupon...not as much now as i did before that "awful" show started...

now that i have everything organized, i can move on to better things...below is what i started  yesterday...
i've very excited about this!! i'm always excited about projects...this is my first time at stenciling...i'm by no means a pro...this took some practice to get the hang of it...i had to wipe off several of them before i could get my paint right...in the beginning i was putting too much paint on...a little paint goes a long way...
i can't wait to share more of this project...

Original 3 Tier Pot Post

this post copied from previous blog

First of all, this is not my idea...I have to give total credit to Amy over at positively splendid .. When I saw this project I had to have it...I did this back in March so I don't have alot of photos...I don't even have the "during" pictures...This was before my blog...I'm trying to add some of my old stuff into some of my new things so some of my posts may just have 1 or 2 photos...

When I decided to make this project, I didn't have any of the pots on hand nor did I have the resources to get them free...I used clay ones and it was rather costly..I felt bad for days because I thought I spent too much...But I'm happy with it...

I used a bunch of old plastic in my pots as fillers...I had some butter cups, mismatched plastic container, a couple of bottles...I put all of that in the bottom of the pots...On top of that I added Miracle Grow potting soil with the moisture control in it..I also splurged on this because I have alot of gardening experience and in the past my pots seemed to dry out too much....It has really made a difference...I don't have to water as much and the plants are thriving....
I picked basically the same colors as Amy used...That's what caught my eye! I got my spray paint at Lowe's because it's the only place around here that I could find the turquoise color...I also splurged on the paint too...It almost killed me to spend over $1.00 for a can of paint...I think I bought 2 of the turquoise and 2 of the red...I had some left over but I have already used some of it for other projects...On the inside of the pots I sealed them just like she said to do...
Amy's pots have numbers on them...I wanted to do that too but still haven't...Everybody that has seen my pots say they like it the way it is...After my stenciled door, I'm not sure that I will attempt the pots...I don't want to mess them up!!

Now on to the most important part...The plants!! Everything in these pots came out of my yard...Except, the green vine stuff on the bottom pot...I saved on expenses by doing this...I wasn't sure how some of the ground cover would do in a pot but what did I have to lose? I already had it...

I want to thank Amy for coming up with this idea or at least sharing it...It is my favorite project I have done...

Crush Proof Tissue Holder

This post has been copied from previous blog...

not much to this post..i just thought this was such a brilliant idea that i had to share it...perfect for the car...

i found this on pinterest ...i can't give credit...there is none...so, if you created this wonderful project, thank you!!
so simple...take a ziploc or glad container that a tissue box will fit in...cut a hole in the bottom...the bottom will be the top when you are done...thats it...i added a little scrap book paper to the top of mine...i can't have a plain tissue holder can i?? this is for the moms that have a problem with their kids stepping on the tissue box and destroying it...to my children, you know who you are...
its rather plain huh? maybe some sort of vinyl? i need to come up with a good idea...

Too Frugal? I Don't Think So....

cheap..thrifty...frugal...i guess everybody has a different name for it...how about crazy?? that one is good too...

since the new year started, i've been trying to do better things in my life...one of them is spending less money...another one is cooking better...and also, making my own things..

the problem that i was having with all of this is, what do i put all of my things in? after all, i was trying to save money...so if i go out and buy a bunch of containers then i'm not keeping up my deal i made with myself...

before i came up with the idea of just using "trash" to put stuff in, i went to the dollar store and picked up a container...for $1.00...now i'm glad that i only bought one...i know its just $1.00 but i needed to buy more if i was keeping this up...

i had already made a post about putting some dish detergent into a coffee can for my bff..i then decorated it a little...so, my mind was ticking..i gathered up all of the containers i had and went to work...

on the far right you can see the dollar store container...the others are the "trash" ones...i've seen alot of people doing the same thing that i just did...some just write on theirs with a sharpie...as a crafter i just couldn't have that...

i took some scrap book paper and wrapping paper...cut it to size...mod podged it on...made labels and put those on as well...

they look a little better...cost was $0 since i had everything...i'm keeping up with my deal...i'm saving money and doing better things for myself...

i know my posts have been kinda slim but i'm working on a few things...hopefully i will be able to post them soon

Mud Pies

not really, but thats what it reminds me of...mixing cement and spreading it all around...makes me have memories of my child hood...

today i'm working on patching a few spots around my pool...its old...very old...as in "i was in the 7th grade when we got it" old...yes, i came back...but i enjoy it here much more now than when i was a child...my children are growing up in the same house i did...and i think thats pretty special...

here is what i'm working on...a pool that is about 30 years old...the cement is horrible...just trying to patch things up on a SAHM budget...
another shot after a small bucket of cement...the whitish part at the top is what i did last year...
thats all i have for now...for those that have not given up on me, i'm trying to get back into the swing of things...losing my other blog has really put a set back on things in my life...i really haven't felt like doing anything...i have a lot of plans for things ahead...

thanks for reading,

Repainted Lamp

last year i decided to make over my sons room when he moved out...i wanted to do it in a funky yellow/ turquoise combo...my plans were for the room to be spare/craft room...my daughter took it upon herself to move in the room...

so i had to change up a few things...we axed the yellow and are just going with the turquoise...it makes things alot easier...

here is the before
here is the after...
i was so in love with the yellow but i guess i'll have to come up with another place in my house to use it...so this is the beginning of the journey in updating the craft room that is no longer the craft room...
